Executive Director, Richard S. Kordos

After the merger of the Lynchburg Fine Arts Center and the Academy of Music Theatre, Richard Kordos came to Lynchburg to lead and manage the Academy of Fine Arts as its first Executive Director in 2004.

With more than 30 years of professional producing and presenting experience in the arts both in Chicago and the Los Angeles area, Richard has also guided several art centers through the design and construction process. His work further includes development and expansion of community educational programs in the fine and performing arts.

Richard's Vision

The new Academy of Fine Arts will be a place of training in and exposure to the varied disciplines of the fine arts, guided by artists of note, with a commitment to working toward discovery, excellence and beauty.

Built on a tradition of quality and enjoyment so successfully established in Lynchburg over the years, the Academy will be a center of creative and social activity of and for the communities of Greater Lynchburg and Central Virginia.
